Celebration of World Environment Day 2025 05-Jun-2025

World Environment Day was celebrated in Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited with great fervour and gaiety. The celebration began with the plantation of saplings in the office premise by Sh. Ramesh Mukhiya, Managing Director, CVPPL. On this occasion, mass awareness programme was conducted for all the employees on the theme of this year World Environment Day- “Ending Plastic Pollution” under campaign # Beat Plastic Pollution. The adverse effects of plastic on the environment and its consequences for livestock, marine life, ecosystems, human health and the global economy were explained by Environment Officer, of CVPPL, through power point presentation and employees were also made aware about their role to beat plastic pollution. Sharing his thoughts on the plastic pollution, Managing Director said, “We cannot continue to ignore the problem any longer and we must take action to reduce our reliance on plastic”. He exhorted everyone to become a part of the solutions to the plastic pollution in view of unquantifiable adverse impacts of plastic. He urged all the employees to bring behavioral changes in everyday lives, such as using reusable bags and water bottles to promote plastic free society. On this occasion, 150 cloth bags were distributed among the staffs to encourage the use of alternative items in place of prohibited single use plastic.
Awareness Programme with aim to end plastic pollution was also conducted in Bal Bharati High School, Nanak Nagar, Jammu and cloth bags were distributed among students and teachers, symbolising a small yet significant steps towards plastic free living. On this occasion, 55 saplings of shady and flower bearing trees were planted in the school and its surrounding area.
